We’re thrilled to announce that our video compression tool, ShrinkIt, has just received a fantastic new update! With the latest release, our Pro users can now copy metadata from the original video file to the compressed file, making it even easier to preserve important details like the date, time, and location of the video.
It’s important to note that at this time, only .mov file extensions support metadata transfer. If you select the checkbox to transfer metadata, the app will automatically choose the .mov extension as the output format for your compressed video.
If the original video file is an mp4 or m4v format and you choose to copy the metadata when compressing the video, the metadata will still be transferred correctly to the .mov compressed file.
We’re working hard to expand metadata support to other file formats in the future, but for now, we want to make sure our users are aware of this limitation.
At ShrinkIt, we’re always listening to feedback from our users, and we’re excited to bring this feature to our community. It’s just one more way we’re making it easier for you to get the most out of our app.

In addition to the new metadata feature, we’ve also addressed a major bug that was causing some videos to compress incorrectly and show a black screen. We understand how frustrating this was for our users, and we’re pleased to have resolved the issue.
As always, we’re committed to making ShrinkIt the best it can be, and we’ve made some other minor bug fixes and optimizations to make the app run even more smoothly.
If you’re a ShrinkIt user, we encourage you to update to the latest version to take advantage of all the new features and improvements. And if you haven’t tried ShrinkIt yet, we invite you to give it a try. It’s a powerful tool that can help you save space and share your videos more easily.
Thank you for your continued support of ShrinkIt, and stay tuned for more updates and features coming soon!
